New Kiva Loan!!! UPDATE!

Kiva_entA great Orgainzation to help!     UPDATE!!

Kiva is a great organization and you can find out more by going to their website at www.kiva.org

Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe. The people you see on Kiva’s site are real people. When you browse entrepreneurs’ profiles on Kiva, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. It is rewarding to get that email….saying your loan has been repaid and fun in slecting another person or group to help.

I will keep you updated on the progress of my loans as they are being repaid.  I have a loan that was repaid and we made a loan to a young Mother of two living in the Phillipines TODAY January 18, 2012.

This is a great way to help people get started in their own business

Have a great day, Sheri

Accountability?

Okay…so things move fast, we get overwhelmed, we are pulled in many directions.

What can we do? We can be Accountable!

Here are two favorite quotes:

Accountability breeds response-ability.” Stephen R. Covey

If we are accountable for what we are doing….if we stay true to our word our natural reaction will be a response-able one. Only we can control our thoughts and our reactions to what life puts in front of us.

“It is not only what we do, but also what we do not do, for which we are accountable.” Moliere

It’s time to step it up a notch! Become accountable, hold yourself responsible for getting the things done you need to do, want to do and have made a commitment to do!

To Your Success!

Yes, You Can Endure….

Another favorite by Rachel Snyder:

Go through the darkness and come out the other side.
When you think I can’t stand another minute of this, know that you can.  When you think I won’t make it through another day, know that you will.  When you  can’t  take   another  moment of     The  pain and the fear and the feelings of hopelessness, take another moment anyway.  Endure the heartache and come out heartstrong.   Endure the tremors and the grief and the isolation and come out sturdy and robust and ready for another round.   Like a diamond in the making, endure the heat and the pressure for what seems like eternity, and emerge with a new brillance and clarity. When you think you’ve come to your end, dig deep and endure.

From Rachel Snyders book, Words of Wisdom for Women

Release!

I love sharing the inspiration I get from Rachel Snyder’s book, Words of Wisdom for Women.

Here is the word for today:

RELEASE – Let go of anybody or anything that holds you back or holds you down.  Release the tension you’ve been caring in your neck and shoulders for you-don’t-know-how-long.   Find a body-worker to help you.   Release the anger you’ve stored up inside you since you were eleven years old.   Find a therapist to guide you.   Release the inner critic who says you have to do everything to perfection.   Admit you can’t do it alone and seek out someone to help.      Let go of old rage, ancient resentments, and old beliefs that you’ll never have enough or do enough or be enough.   Now that you’re grown start pleasing yourself.   Release yourself from the chains of the past so you can ease lightly into the gift that is your present.

Create Your Own Fireworks!

Fireworks
We all have that special something that makes us unique.   We all have very special talents that we can share.   Sometimes we may get lost and lose sight of the gifts that we have.   Any many times you may ask yourself how do I know what gifts I have, what am I good at, how and what  do I share with others.   Sometimes we just need a quite place to be still and and ask ourselves these questions. Many times we will find the answers on our own and can then move forward.   Other times we can ask family and friends to help us by jotting down what they see as our strenghts or gifts and then share them with us.   A friend sent me this video by Katy Perry called Fireworks. I just love it and encourage all of you to watch and then share it with others. It is possible to start again, to find the spark in your soul and to ignite the light!
Just Click on the “Fireworks” above and Enjoy!

St Labre Christmas

This is one of the School’s I donate to.  I believe in helping as many people as possible.  We have so many organizations that suggest that you donate to schools in other countries.  And I believe in helping all those who need help.  However we have so many children in our country that need our help and I suggest we help those first.  It may not give you as much press but if you check out organizations that really need our help in the United States of America it will give you a sense of fulfillment.  There is nothing that gives you the warm feeling as seeing the little faces that are so grateful for their Christmas gifts and warm clothes.  Check out St Labre Indian School and help if you can.

A Gift That Keeps Giving

Greetings,
Two years ago we honored the 83rd. birthday of our dear friend Dr. Werner Langer. We gave him the gift of a goat! Yes, I said goat! The goat does not go directly to him but to a family in need in another country. It was really quite simple to do this. We had found a great website Heifer International. From there we clicked on “GIVE” and selected our living gift that would be given in Dr. Werner’s name. We chose a goat, but you can also select flocks of chicks, geese, ducks, lambs, goats, bees, cows etc. Last April we  celebrated Dr. Langers 85th birthday with a party at my home.  We are looking forward to his 90th Birthday.

If you are looking for a gift to give some who has everything…then this is the site to go to. The gift keeps on giving making a huge impact on providing food and income to a family.

An example: In Tanzania, Omari and Kulwa were struggling to raise a family on just 50 cents a day. With the training and a flock of chicks they received from Heifer, egg sales have boosted their daily income to $2 and now they can buy food and still pay school fees. Now, through passing on the gift, (they share some of the offspring of the chickens) all of the children in their village are going to school.

Please take a few minutes to check out this organization’s web site….it is truly amazing all that they are doing around the world!

A Whale Of A Story- A Whale Says Thank you!

A few years back there was a front page article in the San Francisco Chronicle. The article was about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

As I read the original article CLICK HERE it reminded me of the times I have had the opportunity to swim with the dolphins. It was an amazing experience that I will always cherish ans I highly recommend. Recently this article about the whale was sent to me and they added this message…..”May all of you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude. I pass this on to you, my friends, in the same spirit.”

I couldn’t agree more. So many people are having challenges in their lives now with the economy, job loss, health issues and dealing with so much change. I ask all of you to make it a point to reach out to those you know and love to offer them a warm word of encouragement in hope you can help make their life a little less tangled and let them know that are appreciated and that you are there to offer support.

Merry Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays!

As this year comes to a close and the new year is about to begin I would like to take a moment and wish you all the very best. I hope you truly enjoy time with your loved ones during this Holiday season, I just love this time of year when everyone has the “Christmas Spirit”.
I know this past year has offered many challenges to so many but it is important to remember to express gratitude for all the goodness that we have received throughout 2011.  The more we express gratitude the more we open our lives to receive more abundance in all areas.
Remember “Thoughts Become Things”.

We also want to reflect on the year, and thank the people that have made a great impression
on our lives, please make sure to let them know how much they mean to you.

I would personally like to thank you for your friendship and support in 2011, and wish you much success in 2012!

Give the Gift of Appreciation this year!

Yes, this year has been a year of challenge and of change for many. I have always been the believer that change and even hard challenges have made us stronger and will continue to make us strong and appreciate life. For some it may not seem that way now, but time will soften the struggles and help us emerge lighter and happier.
As we come into the Christmas season I feel the best gift you can give someone will cost you nothing but a few minutes of your time and perhaps a stamp. Please watch this very short video clip about how a simple gesture of appreciation touched the life of two people. I encourage this gift giving season to give a lasting gift of your thoughtfulness and love to another person.
