Helping Others Through Kiva

I was excited to be able to make another loan today with Kiva. Today the loan of $25 was made to Almend Caay from Sapang Dalaga, Philippines.

Almend Caay is from the village of Guinabot. She is 36 years old, married and has 2 school-aged children. Almend owns and operates a food market, selling foods and delicacies in the local community. Almend has been engaged in her business for 7 years. This is actuall her 8th laon made through organizations like to KIve to help expand her business and provide for her family. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve her family’s general living conditions.

Kiva is a great organization and you can find out more by going to their website at www.kiva.org

Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe. The people you see on Kiva’s site are real people. When you browse entrepreneurs’ profiles on Kiva, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. It is rewarding to get that email….saying your loan has been repaid and fun in slecting another person or group to help.

I will keep you updated on the progress of this loan and the others that are currently being repaid.

Have a great day,
Sheri
