Release!

sheri and girls

I love sharing the inspiration I get from Rachel Snyder’s book, Words of Wisdom for Women.

Here is the word for today:

RELEASE - Let go of anybody or anything that holds you back or holds you down.  Release the tension you’ve been caring in your neck and shoulders for you-don’t-know-how-long.   Find a body-worker to help you.   Release the anger you’ve stored up inside you since you were eleven years old.   Find a therapist to guide you.   Release the inner critic who says you have to do everything to perfection.   Admit you can’t do it alone and seek out someone to help.      Let go of old rage, ancient resentments, and old beliefs that you’ll never have enough or do enough or be enough.   Now that you’re grown start pleasing yourself.   Release yourself from the chains of the past so you can ease lightly into the gift that is your present.

Now sit back and enjoy this beautiful slide show backed with India.Arie’s song “Beautiful Day”

Create Your Own Fireworks!

Fireworks
We all have that special something that makes us unique.   We all have very special talents that we can share.   Sometimes we may get lost and lose sight of the gifts that we have.   Any many times you may ask yourself how do I know what gifts I have, what am I good at, how and what  do I share with others.   Sometimes we just need a quite place to be still and and ask ourselves these questions. Many times we will find the answers on our own and can then move forward.   Other times we can ask family and friends to help us by jotting down what they see as our strenghts or gifts and then share them with us.   A friend sent me this video by Katy Perry called Fireworks. I just love it and encourage all of you to watch and then share it with others. It is possible to start again, to find the spark in your soul and to ignite the light!
Just Click on the “Fireworks” above and Enjoy!

New Kiva Loan!!! UPDATE!

Kiva_entA great Orgainzation to help!     UPDATE!!

Kiva is a great organization and you can find out more by going to their website at www.kiva.org

Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe. The people you see on Kiva’s site are real people. When you browse entrepreneurs’ profiles on Kiva, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. It is rewarding to get that email….saying your loan has been repaid and fun in slecting another person or group to help.

I will keep you updated on the progress of my loans as they are being repaid.  I have a loan that was repaid and we made a loan to a young Mother of two living in the Phillipines TODAY January 18, 2012.

This is a great way to help people get started in their own business

Have a great day, Sheri

A Gift That Keeps Giving

Sheri, Dr. Werner, Buck Reed

Greetings,
Two years ago we honored the 83rd. birthday of our dear friend Dr. Werner Langer. We gave him the gift of a goat! Yes, I said goat! The goat does not go directly to him but to a family in need in another country. It was really quite simple to do this. We had found a great website Heifer International. From there we clicked on “GIVE” and selected our living gift that would be given in Dr. Werner’s name. We chose a goat, but you can also select flocks of chicks, geese, ducks, lambs, goats, bees, cows etc. Last April we  celebrated Dr. Langers 85th birthday with a party at my home.  We are looking forward to his 90th Birthday.

If you are looking for a gift to give some who has everything…then this is the site to go to. The gift keeps on giving making a huge impact on providing food and income to a family.

An example: In Tanzania, Omari and Kulwa were struggling to raise a family on just 50 cents a day. With the training and a flock of chicks they received from Heifer, egg sales have boosted their daily income to $2 and now they can buy food and still pay school fees. Now, through passing on the gift, (they share some of the offspring of the chickens) all of the children in their village are going to school.

Please take a few minutes to check out this organization’s web site….it is truly amazing all that they are doing around the world!

A Whale Of A Story- A Whale Says Thank you!

mn_whale_rescue_fx

A few years back there was a front page article in the San Francisco Chronicle. The article was about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

As I read the original article CLICK HERE it reminded me of the times I have had the opportunity to swim with the dolphins. It was an amazing experience that I will always cherish ans I highly recommend. Recently this article about the whale was sent to me and they added this message…..”May all of you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude. I pass this on to you, my friends, in the same spirit.”

I couldn’t agree more. So many people are having challenges in their lives now with the economy, job loss, health issues and dealing with so much change. I ask all of you to make it a point to reach out to those you know and love to offer them a warm word of encouragement in hope you can help make their life a little less tangled and let them know that are appreciated and that you are there to offer support.

Stella’s Voice

babyjesusmanager

“I am an orphan!  No one cares about me.  I am hungary, I am cold, I am despised.  I am abandoned, I am abused.  I am Stella’s voice.  A voice ia all that is left of Stella, an handicapped orphan.  Homeless, powerless, silenced and used by evil men.  Dead at nineteen, I am Stella’s Voice.  I am the voice of orphans.  I am their prayer for food, for warmth, for love.  I am their cry for protection from sex traffickers.  Will you be Stella’s Voice too?  Together we can make her voice louder.  Together we can make a difference.  Will you be Stella’s Voice?”  http://stellasvoice.org

Several years ago a dear friend, Bill Pike introduced me to the Philip Cameron Ministries and Stella’s Voice.  They rescue Moldova’s teenage girls.  These beautiful young girls are put out of the orphanages at age 16, straight into the clutches of Moldova’s rampant sex-trafficking industries.  Providence Orphanage opened Jan, 2011, the first private Christian orphanage in Moldova.  Teenage children of all ages are being fed, cared for and loved in Jesus’ name.  My Mom and I am so thankful that our friend Bill and his  wife Donna told us about the wonderful things Philip Cameron Ministries and Stella’s Voice are doing to help the orphans of Moldova.  Will you help?   Please go to http://stellasvoice.org and make a contribution, large or small and help keep a child warm at Christmas time.

It is difficult to think about children who are cold and hungary when many of us have so much.  If you have never know what it is to be hungary there is no way we can explain it.  When you  have been cold and no way to get warm there is no way to explain being cold.  We have so much to be thankful for and that our children have warm clothes and food on the table.  We remember baby Jesus at this time and how cold it was in the stable where he was born.

We remember Mary and Joseph so many years ago in the cold stable awaiting the birth of their son.  The temperature in the stable on the cold clear night must  have made Mary afraid for her baby.  No bed for the baby to sleep in and only a manger for a bed.  Only straw to fill the manger and no extra blankets to keep the baby warm.  A cloth to swaddle the baby in.  Only the animals to give comfort to Mary and Joseph.  What did Mary and Joseph eat and what did they drink to stay warm.  Picture that night so long ago with the stars so bright overhead.  Were they afraid when they were told there was no rooms available at the Inn?  How did they find the stable where Jesus was born?  So many thoughts had to be going thru their heads as they rushed to find a place where Mary could give birth.  When the shepherds saw the bright star and came to watch over him what were they thinking?  Did they know he was our savior?  So many thoughts go thru our mind as we picture the scene so very long ago.  Happy Birthday baby Jesus and Merry Christmas to everyone.

2011 Brings Personal Change!

bali 019

You Cannot Change, Change Itself…

2011 will most certainly bring many changes to many people in different forms. Change usually is good, although some changes in the beginning may not appear that way and we need to let them play out in order to find the positive effects of a particular change and perhaps what we can learn from them.

When we are greeted with a change or opportunity it can take us in many directions. Just a few short weeks ago my son, his wife and my grandson moved to Bali.  With this change I thought my direction was to simplify my life, slow down a bit and allow myself to live part time in Bali. That was a huge decision…it meant rearranging my life as I have been living it for a number of years. I put my house on the market, it didn’t make sense to have such a big house (with all the upkeep) empty while I was out of the country. So up went the “For Sale” sign!

So much harder than that step, was the fact that I would not need my full time assistant, Tracy Jacobsen, who has been with me for almost 13 years. Tracy would have to look for another position…she was great and encouraged me to take this opportunity…to make this change!

What happened next? Another change or opportunity was presented to me. I was offered a position as VP of Marketing for a company called Regeneca. After much thought and prayer I accepted the opportunity and prepared for even more change. I have always loved network marketing and especially the “marketing” part of it.  As many of you know I love people, personal development, promotions, events and yes, parties!!  I am very excited about this new opportunity, the new changes in my life and in the life of others that this company can help create.

So next I had to switch gears fast.  I once heard the phrase, “I can stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change”. Well that is what I felt like I did.  I took my home off the market since I will not be traveling back and forth to Bali as I originally thought. Tracy didn’t have to send out resumes and she is experiencing a great change herself.  She too is working for Regeneca and experiencing new opportunities and change on a daily basis.

Some of my friends have experienced a lot of change in the past 11 days of the New Year. Some of the changes are small, some are grand and some appear to be somewhat challenging. For those facing what seems like a difficult change or challenge perhaps this quote might help, ”Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength”.

We can not let fear of the unknown stop us from keeping an open mind about change and what is to come. I love this quote from Mark Victor Hansen,

“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”

I will leave you with this; Find your enter beacon of strength, direction, bliss and follow it.

I wish you all a changing New Year and hope that you prosper with knowledge and strength from your experiences in 2011!

Give the Gift of Appreciation this year!

christmas

Yes, this year has been a year of challenge and of change for many. I have always been the believer that change and even hard challenges have made us stronger and will continue to make us strong and appreciate life. For some it may not seem that way now, but time will soften the struggles and help us emerge lighter and happier.
As we come into the Christmas season I feel the best gift you can give someone will cost you nothing but a few minutes of your time and perhaps a stamp. Please watch this very short video clip about how a simple gesture of appreciation touched the life of two people. I encourage this gift giving season to give a lasting gift of your thoughtfulness and love to another person.

Putting Forth The Extra Effort!

thermomator

Recently l was reading a book titled “One” and I would like to share something from that book with you.

Down through the ages and around the world there has never been another you and there never will be. YOU are not here by mistake!

The miracle of your existence is now in your hands each and every day. You are here for a purpose and you have something that only you can give to the world. I personally feel the question is…have you taken the time to consider what that is? If you have then you are ahead of so many people. Many people have not taken the quiet time to find the answer to the question of…. what is my purpose in life? But my next question is, are you really putting forth the effort to share and expand that gift that you have. If not, are you aware that it takes only the smallest degree of effort to make a huge difference.

Backwards As Forward!

family 3

Greetings!
It’s a beautiful day here in Carlsbad, CA. We all have so much to be gratefull for.
A friend sent me this information. You may have seen this on You Tube it is truly amazing and I just wanted to share it with you all again.

A palindrome reads the same backwards as forward.

This video reads the exact opposite backwards as forward.

Not only does it read the opposite, the meaning is the exact opposite.

This is only a 1 minute, 44 second video and it is brilliant.

Make sure you read as well as listen…forward and backward.

This is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20-year old.

The contest was titled “u @ 50″ by AARP. This video won second place.

When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause.

So simple and yet so brilliant. Take a minute and watch it.
